Descrizione

We are looking for a kind, reliable and enthusiastic English-speaking young woman (native speaker preferred) to support a bright and motivated teenage student attending an international school in the Baranzate/Bollate area, north of Milan.
Our daughter is an intelligent, respectful, well-mannered and academically successful student who genuinely enjoys learning. She is highly motivated, independent, and fully capable in her studies, with no intellectual disability, learning disorder, or physical disability.
She is currently enrolled in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and is thriving in a demanding academic environment. She does not require formal teaching or subject tutoring; however, she benefits from practical educational support that helps her remain fully engaged, organised, and safe throughout the school day.
Due to a neurological condition, she occasionally experiences brief seizures and periods of fatigue. These episodes have become significantly less frequent over time, and her overall condition has improved greatly. However, occasional supervision and support within the school environment remain important to ensure her safety, wellbeing, and continuity of learning.
We are therefore looking for someone who can be a supportive presence during the school day: attentive when needed, yet able to step back and allow a teenager the independence and social space that is so important at her age.
Main Responsibilities
• Accompanying and discreetly supervising our daughter during school hours and movements around the school campus.
• Helping ensure her safety in the event of occasional absence episodes.
• Taking accurate notes during lessons, particularly in mathematics and science subjects.
• Acting as a scribe when necessary, as handwriting can be challenging due to graphomotor difficulties.
• Helping organise notes, assignments, deadlines, and study materials.
• Supporting planning, study skills, and academic organisation.
• Reviewing classroom material when needed and helping ensure continuity in learning when fatigue or health-related interruptions occur.
• Providing occasional academic support by helping clarify concepts and reviewing lesson content, particularly in mathematics and science subjects.
• Encouraging confidence, independence, and positive social interactions with peers.
• Providing practical assistance during the school day while promoting autonomy and self-confidence.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate does not necessarily need previous professional experience. We would be delighted to hear from university students, recent graduates, gap-year students, or young professionals who are intelligent, caring, and eager to learn.
An academic background or strong interest in science, mathematics, medicine, neuroscience, psychology, biology, engineering, education, or related subjects would be particularly appreciated.
As our daughter is following the academically demanding International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, it is important that the successful candidate feels comfortable following upper secondary-school level coursework, particularly in mathematics and the sciences.
The role does not involve formal teaching; however, the candidate should be able to understand lesson content, take accurate notes, help organise and review material, and occasionally provide clarification or additional explanations when needed.
We are looking for someone who:
• Is a native English speaker or has an excellent command of English.
• Is reliable, responsible, observant, and proactive.
• Is patient, kind, discreet, and emotionally intelligent.
• Has strong organisational skills.
• Has confidence with mathematics and science subjects.
• Can build a positive, respectful, and supportive relationship with a teenager.
• Feels comfortable working within a school environment and interacting professionally with teachers and staff.
• Is willing to learn about our daughter's condition and the simple safety procedures associated with it (guidance and support will be provided).
Important Information
• Our daughter is not intellectually impaired and does not require academic support because of learning difficulties. She is a capable, independent and successful student who simply benefits from additional practical support and supervision.
• We are looking for someone who understands how to be present and supportive without being intrusive, allowing her to maintain her independence and develop friendships naturally with her peers.
Hours and Location
Approximately 18–24 hours per week, mainly during school hours in the morning and early afternoon.
The school is located in the Baranzate/Bollate area, north of Milan, and is easily reachable by public transport from central Milan. We are also happy to arrange pick-up from a nearby metro or train station if helpful.
Compensation
Competitive compensation based on availability, qualifications, and experience.
For the right candidate, we would also be open to considering a live-in / au pair arrangement, including accommodation, meals, and a financial allowance.
About the Position
This position would be ideal for someone interested in education, psychology, medicine, neuroscience, biology, mathematics, engineering, or related fields who would enjoy supporting a bright and motivated student within an international academic environment.
The role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the life of an exceptional young person while gaining valuable experience in education, student support, and wellbeing.
If this sounds like a role that may interest you, we would love to hear from you. Please send a brief introduction about yourself, your academic background, availability, and contact details.
